How it works
The MedLite C6 sends ultra-short pulses of light into the skin that shatter tattoo ink into tiny particles. Your lymphatic system then carries those particles away over the following weeks. Because the energy targets the ink rather than the surrounding skin, the process is gentle on skin texture when it is done by a trained therapist. The MedLite C6 has four wavelengths (1064, 532, 585 and 650nm), so we can match the setting to the ink colour.
Why we use the Cynosure MedLite C6
The MedLite C6 is a medical-grade Q-switched Nd:YAG laser made by Cynosure, a medical laser company whose systems are used by dermatologists and clinics around the world.
- Q-switched technology. Q-switched lasers have long been regarded as the gold standard for laser tattoo removal.
- Photoacoustic action. Each nanosecond pulse creates a rapid pressure wave that shatters ink into tiny particles, rather than relying on heat to break it down.
- Non-ablative. The laser works beneath the surface without removing layers of skin.
- Four wavelengths for more ink colours. 1064nm for black and dark inks, 532nm for red and orange, 585nm for sky blue and 650nm for green.
- Even, flat-top beam. Energy is spread evenly across each treatment spot, which helps minimise injury to the skin's surface.
- Comfort. Zimmer Cryo cooling chills the skin throughout treatment.
- Cleaner air. Our Alsident fume extraction system removes laser plume from the treatment-room air as we work, so you and your therapist aren't breathing it in.
How many sessions you'll need
Tattoo removal is gradual. How many sessions you need depends on the tattoo's size, colours, ink depth and age, and on your skin type and how your body clears ink. Sessions are spaced at least six weeks apart so the skin can heal and your body can clear the ink between treatments.
Downtime and comfort
Redness, swelling and possible blistering for a few days. A warm flick, like a rubber band. Zimmer cooling is used throughout.
